To Meet & Greet Is Sweet!

I had such a great time this past Saturday signing copies of my book, "Jew in Jail" at the local Barnes & Noble in Poughkeepsie, New York.
There is just something about meeting and talking to strangers who seem extremely interested to know what it was like for me as an addict - and minority while behind bars - to spend nearly six years in prison, and learn how I was finally able to "arrest" my past addictions to alcohol, drugs and…

Improving Your Writing as an Indie Writer

One knock against Indie writers points to the many mistakes found in Indie books. I understand an editor can be expensive and be beyond reach of many writers.  I guess I'm lucky because I married mine. But for those of you who don't have that luxury there are things you can do to ameliorate the situation.

When first conceiving my characters for The House, I took myself back to the many fairy tales I had read as a child, and channelled some of the creatures and folk prevalent in those classic stories. By thinking of them as archetypes, I created a beastly and dipsomaniacal Lord, an analogy to the predatory wolf, a sensitive Lady powerless to find her true calling, an essence of the damsel in distress, and a troupe of personages that one never reads about in novels written during the…
