Here are a few excerpts from my book, 'Sweet earth'.
My début novel tells the story of the years between 1916 and 1960, casualties and survivors in both love and war feature strongly, as does the shared perspective of women's lives.
It is a good read without sentimentality, but has passion and substance, with strong use of juxtaposition enhancing the ordinary against the extraordinary; one transforming the other.
Writing has become a way of life and is a natural development from a career in the creative and performing arts. I am currently working on short stories and have completed two more novels and an anthology of poetry. One thing leads on to another and as being a writer means that one writes, keeping it all active is essential. It is part of the 'making things happen' process and is such good practice.
