Author Lord David Prosser

Hello, my name is David and I'm an author. If that sounds like the introduction of someone attending a meeting of the AA then that's how being an author feels sometimes. An addiction that you feel warrants a confession.

I have written and self published Four books to date.

My Barsetshire Diary  10916208853?profile=original

The Queen's Envoy

More Barsetshire Diary

10916208662?profile=originalThe first three books are concerned with the life of a member of the gentry in the small village he's chosen to live in. The cat rules his life while his wife and daughter rule his wallet.

In the second book we visit him at his job accepted along with the title he inherited, that of Envoy to HM Government but instantly deniable. Since our hero is at a loss where women are concerned we see how he copes when faced with saving the Government some embarrassment but females are desperate to show their thanks. Is a stiff upper lip enough to save him?

The first and third books take place after he's retired from active service but is put to work by the promises made on his behalf by his wife. See how he copes with judging the jam making competition when someone is determined to win at any price.

The fourth book is called Memoirs of a Superior and was dictated by Oscar the cat, or Superior as they like to be called. He wanted to share his personal adventures but also pass his wisdom on to kittens about how to control us Longlegs so that we serve the Superiors properly. I suggest any Longlegs buying this keep it out of sight. If your Superior reads it I won't be responsible for the consequences.

Hello. I'm a very unprolific author.

I must have around a dozen print-on-demand books but that's not much. I love the service but wish I was a better author. My friend tells me its a craft not a skill. I have written since JR high school and was an avid reader throughout high school. I can't think of a time when I was younger that I had not been reading.

Maybe when I wasn't playing videogames.

Lately, I have been having trouble cracking open a book or struggle to remember important conversations I've had with people in the past. I worry that this is a sign of my illness catching up with me. You see, I was diagnosed in with Schizophrenia or Schizoaffective Disorder in 2005. Prior to that I had Major Depression in 2000.

I feel that my cognitive skills are going on me along with my memory. I do not know the cause of which but a psychiatrist confirmed that it is part of my illness I have. In the past I journalled all the time. Now, at the very young age of 35, I a fear losing my marbles.

So I tossed together those dozen print on demand books. I'm not trying to sell them.

Just saying, cherish your mind at all costs. You may, like my mother who is in 70s who is battle dementia and myself who has no real clue why he has this illness of the mind, find you're not as sharp as you used to be. Use your wits while you've got them. Don't waste time thinking negative thoughts of yourself or others and do not criticize.

Sharpen those wits, keep your mind & body & spirit healthy. And "Rage, Rage, Rage Against the Dying of the Light!"

Meet the Author

I’ve had a book in my hands since my grandmother Rosa taught me to read when I was five years old. Victorian literature was one of my favorite areas of study, although I’m a big fan of American writers such as Willa Cather, Anne Tyler, Elizabeth Berg, and Barbara Kingsolver. Two books that have influenced me greatly are To Kill A Mockingbird and Beloved.

Toni Morrison said, “If there’s a book you really want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it.” The Other Side of Heartache is that book from me. This is a story that lodged in my heart for several years until I knew it had to be told and shared with women who ever had to make a difficult choice, or knew someone who did. The novel is available now on Amazon Kindle books.

I was born in Los Angeles and raised in a high desert town in southern California. I hold a bachelor's degree in English from California Lutheran University, a single subject teaching credential in English, and a master’s degree in education from Santa Clara University. I’ve been a frequent contributor of stories in Chicken Soup for the Soul books. I have three adult children, one biological and two adopted (although I can never remember which two) and I live in Bend, Oregon with my husband of thirty-two years. I’m hard at work on my second novel.

E.Van Johnson

I began writing out of boredom. I was stuck in a dving bell in the middle of the north sea for 47 days. Having read every bookon the rig I decided to write my own. It was a smugglers tale and it was rubbish.

When I came ashore I joined a writers group and decided to learn how to construct a story.

In 1974 I found an agent and sold three plays for TV and was well into my first novel when divorce interupted proceding. I moved abroad and lost contact withmy agent, but continued to write and had five books in various stages of completion.

I retired in 2005 and moved to Mallorca in 2009 where I was asked to start a writers group. The enthusiasm of my members gave me the incentive to look at some of my own work and I have completed and published three novels, had articles published in the island press and will be shortly doing aninterview to promote my books here on TV.

'Dead Men Make The Best Heroes' is set at the time of the Arab Israeli conflict in 1974 it is my take on war, there are no winners.

Transported for life' is set in 1789 at the time of the first transportation fleet to Australia and follows the lives of a young serving girl who is accused of theft and sentenced to hang. By changng places with another prisoner who has died she assumes her name and sentence which is to be Transported for Life.

Lost to the sea' |Book 1. Orphaned; Apprenticed; Pressed & Prized; is the first in a series of sea stories following the life of an orphan who loses his entire family and is taken in and educated by the church. Apprenticed to a shippng master he is pressganged and put to serve on a sloop of war.

Lost to the sea' Book 2. Letters of Marque.' is the second in the series and covers the rescue attempt of his old captain from pirates.

I cazlss myself as a storyteller in the old style and deloberately sert out to entertain and engage my reader in another world. Hopefully I succeed.

Meet the author

I discovered writing quite by accident and became a published author in 2010. My first book "When the Lotus Blooms," is a historical fiction novel about two child brides confronting their problems in 1930's Colonial India. It was inspired by my own family and is basically a snapshot of brahmin culture from a woman's perspective. It is available in print and as an ebook on most sites.

"Snapshots" a mini anthology of short stories based on my perspective of the history and culture from the countries I visited, will be released at the end of March as an ebook on the Kindle, free for those that have Amazon Prime. The collections includes stories from Peru, Egypt, India and Nazi Germany.

"The Present: A Gift from the Divine" is a book on Present moment awareness based on interviews I conducted over the last two years from people all over the world .It celebrates the spiritual practices and knowledge as taught by SriSri Ravi Shankar from the Art of Living foundation.

The Sovereign

This book is one of the better reads that I have seen addressing the concepts of spiritual and physical liberty. I think that sovereignty is probably one of the single most important issues of our time! The fact that it was made into a sci/fi is even more fun because it plays on what might really be happening in terms of global affairs on all levels. Whatever happened to the author might be revealing in the knowledge that he dispenses in the trilogy itself.

Introducing myself

1944 was a fraught year in Australia. Thousands of people mourned their menfolk in the army, navy and airforce, many of whom did not make it home. In Europe and the South Pacific - Asia and the islands as well as Australia, troops from Australia, New Zealand and America fought for our future. It was a sad time to be born, but my mother - a single parent and an outcast at the time - managed to keep me for two years before I was stolen - as were so many children in Australia at that time- by the government.

I was very fortunate to be adopted shortly afterwards and have a first class education, which eventually enabled me to write novels! My English teacher, a stern Scotswoman called Miss Young (Youngy) is the one person I would thank for giving me the tools to do this.

Currently, my husband Andrew and I live in southeast Queensland with our nine pet rats - yes, pet rats! We lost our 20yo cat, Fuss three weeks ago and are still in mourning.

Our three children are middle-aged now (OMG) and we have three grandchildren who are 17, 8 and 6. We would love to see more of them, but as the 17 yo is working and the little ones are at school in a city nearby, this is not as often as we would like. We do enjoy having them come out to our country town and stay for the weekend.

We do quite a bit of volunteering in our community and love to travel! Last year we spent a fair bit of the kids inheritance and spent 2 months in the USA, where we had a wonderful time. The people we met were lovely and friendly. My fellow authors whom I met online before we went were just wonderful and made us so very welcome.

Andrew originally came from the UK and we have had two trips back there. Just loved it!

My current crime novels are: THE NAKED ROOM and THE CELIBATE MOUSE - two standalone works featuring DSS Susan Prescott. I also have three short stories up on Amazon as well. My next book, AFTER ARIEL is to be published in November this year.

Two Great Quick Read Mysteries

10916210077?profile=originalLooking for a quick read?  A good but short mystery that you can escape into for a day at the beach or a few afternoons on the hammock or in your favorite recliner?  Either Fake Pastor or Widows Indeed might be just what you’re looking for.

In Fake Pastor, the first in the Rose Jackson Series, you will meet Rose, a 32 year old single Mom of two children living in North Central Arkansas and temporarily unemployed.  A job opens up, one that she has no training, education or experience for, but it is so intriguing.  They need a pastor at the Church of the Cross.  OK, she wasn't positive that there was a God, but she could certainly be a good pastor, couldn't she?  And, for awhile, it is the perfect job, until three of her parishioners are killed.  Is Rose herself involved?  After all, she is the one who has visions that get two people arrested.  Then, Rose is kidnapped.

Widows Indeed is also a murder mystery, but takes place in New Hampshire on the Sugar River near Sunapee Lake where I grew up.  (Arkansas is where I ended up.)  In the sleepy little fictional town of Elmsdale, an elderly woman is found with her throat slit - the blood drained from her body into the ground.  She is over seventy, a pillar of the community.  Who would want to kill an elderly widow?  And shortly after, another widow is killed in exactly the same way.  Two detectives from a nearby city head to Elmsdale to help the local police chief, Frank Tolliver, solve the crimes.  Is there a local pervert turned serial killer loose in this seemingly quiet and peaceful New Hampshire town?  Pete one of the detectives thinks so.  In fact he has decided that Garth Baxter, a man with downs syndrome, is the killer.  While Pete blusters ahead to prove his theory, his partner, Judy Wittoski and Frank delve deeper into the killings looking for a connection between the killing of old ladies and that of a young girl, an 18 year old, who was raped and killed several years ago.  She was left in the same place as one of the widows, and the cut to the throat is all but identical.  The girl was Frank's daughter.

Byron Edgington on Marvin Arnold's Flight of the Setting Sun: "Marvin, where can I find these books? They sound wonderful."

Soft back copies are available on Amazon (hard covers of novel and LC by special order). eBooks of all three are on Kindle and two on Apple, etc. The novel, Flight of the Setting Sun, has been well received by readers and almost to a person it is said that it should be made into a movie; so with much struggle, I did write the screenplay. Am now back to work trying to finish the novel, Starchild, started several years ago. Thanks for asking
